5 out of 5 stars Super!!   July 2, 2010

I don't use a lot of flash, but this unit is perfect for my needs. An occassional fill flash. It works seamlessly with my Canon 50D. Very happy with this purchase.

4 out of 5 stars Good "my first flash"   June 22, 2010
Frank Jones (San Jose, CA USA)
For the price this flash works great. I recently dusted off my 300d to give to my son and he noted I have 2 flashes for my camera and wanted one(a 580ex II and a a 430ex II). He missed out as I had just sold a 580ex. Anyhow, the kid needed a flash to tinker with so I picked up one of these. I played with it for a little while and overall was impressed for the money. Metering is a tad off with a t2i and goes where it wants but for this price, it works. As was noted in other reviews it will work in as a slave to a 580 but only in manaual, and I found I got better results with just my 2 flashes(I'll probably pick up another 430 for myself), but for a kid with an ancient 300d it works great and has a decent reach.

Good flash for the money. I like the built in bounce and diffuser.

Slow flash recycle time. Had to wait on it between photos.

Right out of the box, the flash was easy to install and use. Produces excellent lighting and the built in diffuser works great! Awesome flash for the price...especially for a beginner like me!

4 out of 5 stars Good enough   March 27, 2010
amateur photographer (NJ)
The flash synchronizes with my Canon Rebel xsi. Although I prefer exisiting light, the flash is certainlyy powerful enough for what I need. The back light on the panel works sporadically, a minor nuisance. Nicad batteries provide speedy interval beteen flashes, although as the batteries wear, the flash slows up. For the money, I think this is a good buy; it has many of the advanced features of the much more expensive Canons. It has a built in diffuser -- sturdy enough and a white card to allow bounce. At best, the card is flimsy. I have not had the flash long enough to know if it will hold up.
